Hello everyone, I just wanted to tell you guys about something I started this last week. Being involved in a local church, you see it all. Many needs and yes a lot of po' folks for various reasons. I donated three sets of Bubinga off my saw to help them get started in an online business, Ebay. As you know, bubinga is a beautiful African Wood and makes a great guitar. The idea is to train them to sell and therefore better their situation until real work comes along. Anyone interested in Bubinga, please check out the three current auctions of my students on Ebay. One lady has already put up 8 other auctions, bless her heart. Thanks for listening. Bruce, I bought the one that had the buy it now on it. I really respect what you are doing to help others, and I want to support you, and them, in this small way. If my guitar building skills will ever develop and improve enough, I would like to build a guitar out of this wood, sell it, and send you the money to buy more wood to cut up for these folks to sell once again. As beautiful as the guitars are that folks post here, I think this kind of caring touches me even more. Jeff |

Good idea Bruce...nice going. Now you have to show them how to buy stuff for low cost, and sell on eBay for enough to line their pockets. The great thing is that you can sell just about anything on there. the bad thing is you can lose money selling on there... |

I dropped in on an antique store to buy a 55 gallon barrel for my pressure washer so I could use it in a state park to clean up a wedding site pavillion. While there I noticed a set of EP Waterskis, chuckle chuckle, good bindings, no damage, 9.95 plus tax. On Ebay, they'd easily bring thirty or forty bucks plus shipping. I just wanted them in the boat next time we go, so they aren't for sale. It'll be worth 10 bucks the first tow around the lake..... grin. The lake has a 300 mile shoreline. OT Went to the lake the fourth time. I kept asking my 22 year old to check the gas. Oh yeah, plenty in there. Thank God for Cell phones and a wife who had supper ready. She met us at Delaware Bay Bridge, just a fifteen mile drive one way. OOOOPS. We had a great time.

I just won the first set. It looks beautiful. I'm still making jigs - haven't even started my first guitar yet. So, it'll be a while before I use this set. For some reason, I seem to be accumulating wood at a surprising rate. When, eventually, I use this Bubinga, I'll be sure to post pictures of the guitar. Phil |

Thanks Jeff and Phil. All three sets sold. I have calls on my answering machine from both guys. I don't know who got the third set, but we'll coach them through sending it out. Jeff may have received his already, since it was a buy it now. Thanks to all. Phil, wood collection is symptomatic of a guitar maker who looks ahead. I have thousands invested in wood and love it all. Nothing like bending a set of sides and joining a nice top and back for a guitar and seeing it come together. Ya.....hoooo! I need to do more of that. And I will. Our lake is really wonderful, whether fishing, canoeing, kayaking, tubing or sailing. I can't help taking my digital along lately. PS The lady has already listed about twenty items on Ebay, so her efforts are beginning to pay off. She had no car, no job, a four year old and is a recovering alcoholic. She made her second sale yesterday. The cool thing, she's really working hard at it. At our second meeting, they gave items to each other to sell. Just a way of planting seeds in others lives, besides themselves. I'm looking for the next three candidates already. |
